History:

Founded in 2002, The Coven is committed to offering opportunities for women of all ages to play rugby at either the recreational or competitive levels.

Our inaugural season, like most other clubs, was both challenging and rewarding. A core group of players and a load of new recruits kept us going strong into a second season, starting with our first club victory at the Oshawa tournament. Our third season saw us field two teams, one in the EORU and one in the Quebec League, in order to provide the best playing opportunities for all team members. Our competitive team finished fourth out of seven teams in Quebec, with an even win-loss record, and our recreational squad showed their competitive edge with some major victories in the Russell League.

2006 kicked off with a The Coven taking first place in the University of Ottawa Indoor Tag League. Over the summer, our recreational side shifted focus to tournaments and exhibition play, while the competitive team enjoyed a challenging season after being invited up to play in the Quebec 1st Division. In the fall, while our varsity players (and coaches!) were bringing skill and spirit to their univiersity teams, our non-varsity players were wore the navy & orange as part of the EORU Women's Fall League.

This season, The Coven will be entering teams in both the Division 1 and U-19 leagues in the EORU. We look forward to welcoming new members throughout the year. Experienced veteran or rookie, young or young at heart, The Coven has a place for all who want to share a fun and meaningful rugby experience.
